Lal Bahadur Yadav, a Samajwadi Party leader, died in an accident in which a streetlight pole at the petrol pump give away and fell on his car in Uttar Pradesh's Pratapgarh. The incident took place at a petrol pump captured on a CCTV camera installed the fuel station.
The 48-year-old SP leader was crushed inside his Hyundai Creta when the structure fell on his SUV at around 11.25 am in the Babuganj market area of Antu. Yadav had reportedly stopped at the petrol station and was seated inside his parked car when a high-mast pole fal on his vehicle.

The heavy steel structure toppled directly onto the roof of the vehicle, trapping Yadav inside. Local residents and onlookers rushed to the spot where he was pulled out. He was immediately transported to a nearby community health centre, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
Footage from the petrol station’s security cameras shows the moment the pole lost balance and collapsed. The Pratapgarh district administration has launched an inquiry into whether the contractors followed mandatory safety guidelines.
