Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], April 2 : A major fire broke out late Wednesday night in several shops along the Sitapur Highway in the Bakshi Ka Talab (BKT) area of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, causing significant property damage worth lakhs of rupees.

Speaking to ANI, Fire Station Officer Prashant Kumar said that the alert was received around 11:45 PM, and fire tenders were immediately dispatched to the scene.

"As soon as we received the alert, sometime around 11:45 PM, we immediately dispatched our fire tenders to the scene of the incident," he told ANI.

He added that due to the intensity of the blaze, additional units were called in from nearby areas to help control the fire.

"Considering the severity of the blaze, we summoned a second vehicle, Unit 3705, from Itaunja. In addition to these, two more vehicles were called in from Indiranagar and Fire Station Chowk," he said.

The officer confirmed that four shops were damaged in the incident. "So far, it has been confirmed that four shops have sustained damage due to the fire," Kumar said.

He added that the fire has now been fully brought under control. "The fire has now been completely extinguished," he said.

No casualties have been reported so far, and the operation to ensure the safety of the surrounding areas was successfully carried out by the fire department.

In a separate incident, on Tuesday, a fire broke out in a cloth warehouse in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, due to a short circuit, officials said.

The fire broke out around 3 pm on Tuesday at Fazil Enterprises under the Kundarki police station. Six fire tenders reached the incident site to douse the fire.

Speaking with ANI, Chief Fire Officer Rajiv Kumar Pandey said, "Our 4 fire trucks reached the spot... We are carrying out firefighting operations... All people are safe, and firefighting operations are ongoing. At this time, a total of 6 fire trucks are engaged in extinguishing the fire. Prima facie, the cause of the fire appears to be a short circuit."
