A major fire broke out late Tuesday night, gutting a furniture and electronics store in a five-storey building. Firefighting teams rushed to the scene and brought the blaze under control after five hours, police said. Police Inspector S. Vijai stated, “Around 11:20 pm to 11:30 pm, we received information about the fire. All relevant departments—including Fire, Electricity, GHMC, Water Works, Police, and Traffic—were immediately alerted and rushed to the site.” Thick smoke and flames were seen billowing from the building as the fire spread through the furniture stocked inside. The incident occurred along the main road, leading to heavy traffic congestion in the area.
Fire engines and equipment arrived from Madhapur Zone, Kukatpally Zone, and nearby areas such as Patancheru and Hitec Nagar. Operations to control the fire began around 11:30 pm and continued until approximately 3:30 am–4:00 am. Inspector Vijai added, “The building is a G+4 structure, and since it housed furniture and electronics, controlling the fire took longer than usual.” The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, and further details are awaited.
