West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee on Monday reacted the sloganeering incident on the birth anniversary celebration of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose in Kolkata, saying that what they (the audience) did was an insult to Bengal and added that she would have saluted the audience had they hailed Subhash Chandra Bose.

She said she had to face taunts and insult in presence of PM Modi at Victoria Memorial event. And that BJP should be rechristened it's name to 'Bharat Jalao Party'.

Taking a jibe at Suvendu Adhikari, who left Trinamool Congress to join the BJP, Mamata Banerjee said the ones who are greedy are joining the saffron party.

"Those who are lining up [to join BJP], I want to tell them, hurry up, leave TMC! They never got ticket [to contest polls] from TMC so they are leaving. The BJP has no other work than to create tandav," Mamata Banerjee said.

On the Victoria Memorial incident, Mamata Banerjee said, "I went to a Netaji programme, but how dare they! Some fanatics were teasing me...infront of the country's prime minister. They don't know me. If they had raised slogans on Netaji, I would have saluted them, but no! Before this, they had insulted Rabindranath Tagore."

The West Bengal Chief Minister did not deliver her speech "in protest" during the event at Victoria Memorial to mark the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose after 'Jai Shri Ram' slogans were raised when she was invited to speak.
