West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee has suffered a major injury in an accident, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) said on Thursday. She has been taken to the state-run SSKM hospital in Kolkata. She has been admitted to SSKM Hospital in Kolkata, where she is currently receiving treatment.

Our chairperson @MamataOfficial sustained a major injury. Please keep her in your prayers,” the party posted on X along with pictures of Banerjee bleeding from her forehead.

The party did not reveal how she was injured, but media reports indicates that the West Bengal Chief Minister sustained the injury at her home.

Before the incident, Banerjee had visited Gariahat at Ekdalia Evergreen club to inaugurate an idol of former minister Subrata Mukherjee.

This marks the second significant accident involving the West Bengal Chief Minister this year. In January, she narrowly avoided a car accident during her visit to East Burdwan, where her convoy encountered a vehicle allegedly speeding at 200 kmph. The sudden braking resulted in Banerjee's head hitting the dashboard, causing swelling and concussion.
