A security officer was killed and another injured Wednesday morning in an ambush by suspected militants while they were sleeping at their temporary camp in the border town of Moreh, Manipur.

According to police reports, armed miscreants carried out an attack on security personnel in Manipur, leading to the unfortunate death of one personnel from the CDO (Commando) unit. Another member of the security force sustained injuries during the incident,

In addition, rebels fired RPG shells at the makeshift commando post, resulting in damage to several parked vehicles in the vicinity. The suspected Kuki militants clashed with security forces just 48 hours after two individuals connected to the murder of a police officer in the border town were apprehended by state forces, as per police reports.

Previously, the Manipur government had enforced a complete curfew starting from midnight on January 16 due to concerns about the "possibility of a disturbance of peace, public tranquility, and a serious threat to human lives and property within the revenue jurisdiction of Tengnoupal," according to the news agency PTI.
