In a significant move, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has introduced a comprehensive house tax waiver scheme, as announced by senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh during a press conference on Monday. Under this initiative, residents who pay their 2024-25 house tax will have all their previous pending taxes waived off.

The announcement was made jointly by Singh, MCD Mayor Mahesh Khinchi, Deputy Mayor Ravinder Bhardwaj, and Leader of the House Mukesh Goel. The scheme provides tailored benefits based on property size. Properties under 100 square yards will receive complete tax exemption, while properties between 100 and 500 square yards will enjoy a 50% tax reduction.

The initiative also extends to commercial properties in rehabilitation areas, offering them tax exemptions. Additionally, residents of 1,300 housing apartments will now benefit from a 25% tax reduction, a privilege they previously did not have. Highlighting the party’s commitment to public welfare, Mayor Mahesh Khinchi said, “What AAP promised, we have delivered. We have already confirmed 12,000 MCD workers as permanent employees, and we will officially implement this decision in the upcoming MCD House meeting on the 25th.”This scheme represents a major shift in Delhi's municipal tax structure, benefiting a wide range of property owners across the city.
