The parents of Muskaan Rastogi, the woman accused of murdering her husband with her lover in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut, have expressed anger over the alleged crime and demanded that she be hanged to death. They stated that their daughter is not fit for society. Muskaan, along with her lover Sahil Shukla, allegedly killed her husband, Saurabh Rajput, who had returned to India from London to celebrate her birthday. Saurabh worked as a Merchant Navy officer in Britain and often visited India to meet his family.

“My daughter (Muskaan) killed her husband (Saurabh). She is not fit for society and is dangerous to everyone. I would advise others not to take such steps. She should be hanged to death, and if possible, it should be done live,” the accused's father told news agency ANI.

Muskaan's mother described Saurabh as a good man, saying, "Saurabh was a good man... We demand justice, and we want her (Muskaan) to be hanged to death." The police have arrested both Muskaan and Sahil, recovered Saurabh's body from a drum, and registered an FIR in this regard.

Saurabh and Muskaan married in 2016 against their families' wishes and started living separately in a rented house. Saurabh initially worked in the Merchant Navy in London but later lost his job and started working in a bakery. He would visit his family in Meerut every few months. In 2019, Muskaan began dropping her innocent daughter off at play school, where she met Sahil Shukla. The two fell in love and eventually made a plan to kill Saurabh, assuming no one would notice since he lived abroad.

Muskaan’s birthday was on 25 February, and Saurabh came to India from London on 24 February. That night, Muskaan mixed intoxicating medicine into the dinner. After Saurabh fainted, Sahil entered the house, and the two killed Saurabh with a meat-cutting knife. They then took the body to the bathroom, where they cut off his neck and both arms.

They first packed the body in a bag. The following day, they changed their plan, buying a large blue drum and cement bags from the market. They placed the body in the drum and filled it with a cement solution. Once the body was completely packed, they left for Shimla, where they got married in a temple. After returning from Shimla, Muskaan informed her father about the murder, after which both were arrested.
