Patna, April 28 A shocking incident has come to light from Madhuban Jagdish village under Kanti block in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur, where a woman and her two minor children were found dead inside their home.

According to an official, the victims have been identified as Rita Devi (30), her daughter Vaishnavi (2), and her three-month-old son Kanhaiya Kumar.

The incident is believed to have taken place on Tuesday morning while the victims were asleep.

Rita Devi’s husband, Santosh Sah alias Mithai Lal, who works as a confectioner, had gone to attend a wedding function with his brother on Monday night.

Upon returning home the next morning, he found the house locked from the outside.

After entering the premises, he discovered the bodies of his wife and children lying on the bed, with a rope found nearby.

Santosh Sah alleged that his family had an ongoing land dispute with a relative, who had allegedly issued repeated death threats.

According to him, a threat was also made on Monday, warning of dire consequences for the family.

Another family member, who lives in the same house, stated that they were locked inside their room from the outside during the night, while two other children of Santosh Sah—who were sleeping with them—remained unharmed.

The incident has sent shockwaves across the village and surrounding areas.

Grief-stricken family members, including Santosh Sah’s parents, are inconsolable, while residents remain in deep shock.

Upon receiving information, DSP (West) Suchitra Kumari reached the spot and initiated an investigation.

A team from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) has also examined the crime scene.

Speaking to the media, DSP Suchitra Kumari said that both technical and human intelligence inputs are being utilised in the investigation.

She added that the exact cause of death will be confirmed after the post-mortem report.

An FIR is being registered based on the complaint, and those named will be arrested.

“No one involved in the crime will be spared,” she said.

Rural SP Rajesh Singh Prabhakar also visited the spot and reviewed the situation.

He confirmed that statements are being recorded and police teams have been deployed to conduct raids to apprehend the accused.

Police officials stated that further action will be taken based on evidence, forensic findings, and witness statements as the investigation progresses.
