Harendra Maurya, a resident of Morena in Madhya Pradesh, allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his house on Saturday night, March 8. On Sunday morning, his family informed the police, and the body was sent to the district hospital for a postmortem. However, shortly after the incident, a viral video gave a new twist to the case.
In a disturbing viral video, deceased Maurya, who lived in Gandhi Colony, is seen being brutally beaten by his wife and daughters. Harendra is lying on a bed, with his wife, Rachna Maurya, holding his legs. One daughter holds his hands, while the other beats him with a stick. Harendra's younger son, who was sitting nearby, tried to intervene, but his elder sister silenced him by threatening him with the stick.
Video May Disturb Some Viewers
After this shocking video surfaced, the police changed the course of the investigation. The post-mortem of the deceased will now be conducted by a board from Gwalior Medical College.
CSP Morena, Deepali Chandolia, said, "The suicide of Harendra Maurya, a resident of Gandhi Colony, was initially reported. The City Kotwali police started an investigation and sent the body for postmortem. However, the viral video has reversed the case. In the video, the family members of the deceased—his wife, two daughters, and mother—are seen beating him. Based on this video, all involved are being questioned, and the postmortem is now being conducted by the Gwalior Medical Board."
The police are now investigating whether Harendra's death was a result of the assault. The incident has shocked the area, and the video is being widely discussed on social media.
