Rajgarh, April 28 Tragedy struck the Rajgarh district of Madhya Pradesh when a celebratory trip turned into a horrific road accident near Pachor. Two women were killed, and 21 others sustained injuries after a speeding truck collided with a pickup vehicle carrying members of a family.

The victims, belonging to the Yadav family from Mavasa village in Khujner tehsil, were travelling towards Barkheda village to participate in a Mamera ceremony, a traditional pre-wedding ritual.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday. The impact of the collision was so severe that it left the pickup vehicle badly damaged, trapping several passengers inside.

Local authorities and police arrived at the scene quickly to initiate rescue operations, transporting all the victims to the Pachore civil hospital. Despite immediate medical intervention, two women, identified as Avanti Bai and Bhagwati Bai, were declared dead.

The medical condition of two other passengers remains critical.

Due to the severity of their injuries, one person was referred to the Shajapur district hospital for specialised treatment, while the other was rushed to a hospital in Bhopal for advanced care.

The remaining 19 injured individuals are currently receiving treatment in Pachor, where doctors are monitoring their recovery.

The truck driver involved in the accident also sustained injuries during the crash. He is currently being treated at the Pachor hospital while remaining in police custody as investigations continue.

Preliminary reports suggest that the family was travelling with joy for the wedding festivities, which have now been overshadowed by this sudden loss.

Police officials have registered a case regarding the incident and are looking into the circumstances that led to the collision, including potential speeding or negligence by the heavy vehicle driver.

The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem examination before being handed over to the grieving relatives in Mavasa village.
