A Virgin Atlantic flight heading to Mumbai from London made an emergency landing mid-way. The fight landed at the Diyarbakir Airport (DIY) in Turkey. More than 200 Indian flyers are stuck at the airport with no aid for over 15 hours, reported News18 on April 3. The plane, VS 358, landed at the airport because it was not equipped to handle the plane due to a medical crisis.

A passenger told News18 that an emergency landing was made as one passenger had a panic attack. The Turkey airport is not efficient enough to handle the aircraft. Many passengers are stranded and have no idea about their journey further, as the flight agency has not announced any alternative arrangements to resume their flight. Travelers raised their concerns with the flight authorities, but they got no response from them.

Speaking with Republic, another passenger said that they have been stranded in a semi-empty terminal building. No messages or updates are being shared with them from the fight agency. The waiting passengers include sick people and children as well.

Bombay High Court Advocate, Satyam Surana raised this issue on X and said that he had a word with CM Devendra Fadnavis. He ensured that support would be provided to them.

He posted, “Extremely Urgent & IMP! More than 200 passengers travelling to Mumbai from London on VS 358 are stranded at Diyarbukir Airport DIY, Turkey since last 12 hours and have no idea of their return back home. Please need to arrange some alternative travel to BOM from DIY.”

Later giving the update on the situation he posted, “Update regarding the situation: I have coordinated the incident with @Dev_Fadnavis Ji, @TawdeVinod Ji & @mohol_murlidhar Ji. They have promptly & immediately assured all help. @TawdeVinod Ji has called me assured all help & support. @Dev_Fadnavis Ji has sent an SMS & assured all support. Min. Of Civ Aviation has appointed a nodal officer to take care of the situation. Will be working until all passengers are back. What is necessary is to arrange an alternate aircraft to bring the passengers back.”
