Expressing condolences, Owaisi said the tragedy was avoidable and accused the BJP government of attempting a cover-up. In a post on X, the Hyderabad Lok Sabha MP called for an independent inquiry into the systemic failures of Indian Railways. He said the railway network is a lifeline for millions and should not suffer from the government's mismanagement.

The stampede occurred late Saturday night on platforms 14 and 15 as thousands of devotees rushed to board trains for Prayagraj, where the Maha Kumbh is underway. More than a dozen people were injured in the incident.
