New Delhi Railway Station Stampede: Indian Railways has announced compensation for those affected by the stampede at New Delhi Railway Station that left 18 people dead and several others injured. The families of the deceased will receive ₹10 lakh, while ₹2.5 lakh will be given to those seriously injured. Passengers with minor injuries will receive ₹1 lakh, officials said.

The stampede occurred late Saturday as thousands of devotees rushed to board trains for the Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj. Officials said overcrowding on platforms 14 and 15 led to chaos when two special trains were delayed. The panic caused many passengers to faint, while others suffered serious injuries.
