Patna, March 26 Jan Suraaj chief Prashant Kishor said on Wednesday that if the Waqf Amendment Bill is passed in Parliament, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar must be held directly responsible.

While interacting with media persons in Patna on Wednesday, Kishor extended his support to the All India Muslim Personal Law Board’s (AIMPLB) protest against the amendments in the bill.

“I have supported the protest of AIMPLB against the Waqf Bill. This bill has been introduced multiple times in Parliament, creating discomfort among the Muslim community. If the bill is passed, Nitish Kumar will be responsible for it,” Kishor said.

In a sharp attack on the BJP, Kishor emphasised that only a Gandhian ideology-based political system could counter the ideological framework of the ruling BJP in the country.

“Jan Suraaj is not campaigning to capture power by contesting elections in Bihar. It is a movement to revive the Congress system based on Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals before independence,” he added.

Kishor further claimed that the Jan Suraaj is steadily gaining support, with hundreds of people joining daily, motivated by the vision of a better future for Bihar.

In the latest development, former IPS officer Muhammad Abdullah and social worker Amjad Hasan joined Jan Suraaj on Wednesday.

“Truth has a unique power. No matter how much mud is thrown on it, it remains unchanged. Over time, people in Bihar will realise which party and system are best for their children’s future,” Kishor remarked.

Earlier in the day, AIMPLB organised a massive protest against the Waqf Amendment Bill at Gardanibagh Dharna Asthal.

The protest of AIMPLB was supported by several political parties, including RJD, Congress, CPI-ML and others, while a massive protest was also seen inside and outside the Bihar Assembly.
