A tourist bus overturned in Odisha’s Nayagarh district in the early hours of Saturday, in which atleast 5 person got killed and 30 others injured. The accident occurred, around 2 a.m, bus was carrying 55 passengers, overturned on the Hanuman Ghati road at Daspalla. According to media reports, the cause behind the accident was speeding. 

Deceased identified as Hari Patra, his wife Laxmi Patra, Suprabha Sahu, her daughter Sumati and the driver, Prabin Kumar Sahu.  All were residents of Berhampur. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed grief over the incident and conveyed his condolences to the families of the deceased persons.

The Chief Minister announced ₹4 lakh ex gratia from the CMRF for the families of the deceased in the Nayagarh tourist bus accident. Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida expressed her grief and prayed for the departed and injured.

An injured passenger, Arya Patra, claimed the bus was speeding, possibly over 100 kmph, when it overturned. Santosh Pradhan, another passenger, stated they had hired the bus from Berhampur for a trip to Harishankar in Balangir district.
