Former Karnataka Director General of Police Om Prakash was found dead at his residence in HSR Layout on Sunday. He was 68. Police said his body was discovered with visible injuries and blood was found across the floor. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination. According to the media reports, the former IPS officer's wife, Pallavi, informed them about the incident. Both she and the couple’s daughter are being questioned.

Om Prakash reportedly lived on the ground floor of a three-storey house in the city. Police said they suspect the involvement of a family member, according to news agency PTI.

Om Prakash was a 1981-batch Indian Police Service officer. He was appointed as the state’s Director General of Police in March 2015. During his career, he also led the Fire and Emergency Services and the Home Guards.
