Abhay Singh, known as "IIT Baba," denied reports of his arrest after cannabis was found in his possession. He called the claims "fake news" and said the only factual part was that a case had been filed against him for possessing ganja (marijuana)."

"There are three or four fake news reports—one about suicide and another about my detention. The only truth is that bail was granted immediately since the possession was minor," Singh said while celebrating his birthday in Jaipur with followers.

Several reports suggested that Jaipur Police took Singh into custody following an alleged suicide threat on social media. Media reports further indicate that police registered a case against him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

This comes days after Singh alleged, he was assaulted during a news debate on a private channel in Noida. He claimed that saffron-clad individuals entered the newsroom, misbehaved with him, and beat him with sticks.

Singh gained attention at the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, where he called himself "IIT Baba" and claimed to be an aerospace engineering graduate from IIT Bombay. He was later banned from the Juna Akhara camp.

A spokesperson for the Akhara called him an "educated lunatic" who had "abused" his guru. "He had not become a sadhu. He came here from Lucknow and was roaming around as a self-proclaimed sadhu," said the Akhara spokesperson.
