The much-discussed bill, Waqf Amendment will be discussed Today (Wednesday) in parliament. The ruling party BJP and Opposition Congress party have instructed their member of Parliament to be present for the vote. The parties are not able to be on same page so the faith of bill depends on which party gets how many votes. The bill will be introduced for consideration and passage after Question Hour today. An 8-hour debate will follow, and this time may be extended. Allies of both the BJP and Congress have also instructed their MPs to attend Parliament on April 2nd and 3rd.Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena leader and MP Shrikant Shinde has expressed his views on this bill. While talking to media Shrikant Shinde said, "Our stand is clear. We support the Waqf Amendment Bill...I think the Bill will be passed with a full majority...I would like to tell them (Opposition) to read the Bill properly, they are trying to mislead people that Government would take over the Waqf properties..."

He further says, "UBT's stand will never be clear because they are confused. They are even more confused after Vidhan Sabha elections, that what stand do they assume?Would they work to appease Muslims or work to strengthen Muslims? It will be seen tomorrow."

About Amendment Bill

This Amendment bill will help to improve administration and management of waqf properties in India. This aims to overcome the shortcomings of the previous acts and enhance the efficiency of Waqf boards by introducing changes such as renaming the Act, updating the definitions of waqf, improving the registration process, and increasing the role of technology in managing waqf records. The Waqf Act of 1995, enacted to regulate Waqf properties, has long been criticised for issues such as mismanagement, corruption, and encroachments.
