A tragic incident occurred in Attapadi, Palakkad, early Sunday morning when a 54-year-old tribal woman was killed by her 30-year-old son. The victim, identified as Resi, was attacked with a brick around 3:30 am by her son, Reghu. The motive for the attack appears to be a family dispute.  According to Pudur Panchayat President Jyothi Anil Kumar, the incident unfolded when Reghu left the house in the dark, intending to go to a nearby residence.

Resi told him not to go, and he then asked her to join him in the courtyard.  Once outside, Reghu struck her multiple times on the head with a brick.  Resi's cries for help alerted her elder son and neighbors, who rushed to the scene.  However, she died at the house. Neighbors, enraged by Reghu's actions, physically assaulted him, resulting in injuries that required medical attention. He is currently receiving treatment at the Kottathara government tribal hospital, where he has been formally arrested by the police.  Residents have indicated that Reghu has a history of mental health issues.
