Several leaders and State heads of neighbourhood region and Indian Ocean region have been invited for PM-Designate Narendra Modi's swearing-in ceremony as distinguished guests, a testament to India's 'Neighbourhood First' policy.

Congress alleged that the INDIA alliance had not received an invitation to PM Modi's Oath ceremony on June 9 at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi.

Speaking to reporters after the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting in Delhi, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said, "Only international leaders have been invited for the swearing-in ceremony. Our leaders have not received the invitation yet. When our INDIA alliance leaders receive the invitation, we will think about it."

On crucial CWC meeting after recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has been decided the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in Lok Sabha.

"CWC (Congress Working Committee) unanimously requested Rahul Gandhi to take the position of the leader of opposition in Lok Sabha...Rahul ji is the best person to lead this campaign inside the Parliament," Congress leader KC Venugopal said during the press conference after the party's CWC meeting.
