JD (U) on Wednesday expelled its national vice-president Prashant Kishor and national general secretary Pavan K Varma for “violating organisational discipline” by making “controversial statements against the party’s official line”.

For quite some time, Kishor and Varma had been publicly criticizing JD(U) and its president Nitish Kumar for supporting the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) and the National Population Register (NPR). Earlier this week, the differences between JD(U) and the two now expelled leaders snowballed into serious personal feud with Nitish, who has been chief minister of Bihar since 2005.

Meanwhile, poll strategist Prashant Kishore said, " I will formally speak about my plans for the future on 11th February in Patna (Bihar). Until then I am not speaking to anyone".
