Prashant Kishor interfering in Bengal governance: BJP

The Bharatiya Janata Party in West Bengal has alleged that political strategist Prashant Kishor who is on a mission to revamp the ruling Trinamool Congress' image, is overstepping and interfering with the working of the state administration.

"Trinamool Congress has roped in Prashant Kishor to save the party, but I don't think anyone can help them. The way Kishor is interfering in government's functions, giving instructions to the IAS and IPS officers is unacceptable," BJP national secretary Rahul Sinha told reporters here.

The Trinamool decision to call upon the services of Prashant Kishor and his team I-PAC came in the backdrop of the setbacks it suffered in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, where its tally went down to 22, a loss of a dozen seats compared to 2014.

Trinamool Secretary General and Education Minister Partha Chatterjee has denied the BJP's allegations.

"There is no need of mixing political party's work with the work of the government. Both work will go on simultaneously. There isn't an iota of truth in such type of allegations," Chatterjee said.

According to the Trinamool leader, the Modi-wave that had swept across is slowly receding. Hence, they are resorting to such comments.

"Seeking votes in the name of (Narendara) Modi won't help. They should ask for votes for themselves but what work has BJP done in Bengal that would aid them in seeking votes. Also, they should verify their facts before making any such comments," Chatterjee added.
