Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh (March 5, 2025): A boatman from Uttar Pradesh has become the talk of the town after earning ₹30 crore in just 45 days during Mahakumbh 2025. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath shared his success story in the state assembly, calling it an example of how the event created economic opportunities for many.

Mahakumbh, held in Prayagraj, attracted millions of devotees from across India and abroad. While it was a major religious gathering, it also provided livelihoods to thousands. Many small and large businesses flourished, with some individuals earning lakhs and even crores.

One such success story is of Pintu Mehra, a resident of Arail village near the Triveni Sangam. Before Mahakumbh began, he sold his family’s gold jewelry and mortgaged his land to buy 70 boats. Boating had been his family’s traditional occupation. Expecting a large crowd based on previous events, he took the risk and involved his entire family of over 100 members in the business.

For 45 days, Pintu and his team ferried devotees across the river. By the end of Mahakumbh, they had earned ₹30 crore. His success has now become a widely discussed topic in the region.
