Punjab: Meet traffic cop who fills up potholes on Bhatinda roads

Apart from regulating traffic, traffic police personnel Gurbkhs Singh here fills up potholes on roads for the ease of commuters.

He uses mud and interlocking tiles to fill up the potholes and is assisted is this good deed by his colleagues.

"Our gurus have said, service to mankind is the biggest act of devotion. I feel happy doing so. I will continue this work post-retirement also," said Gurbkhs Singh.

Police officials said Gurbkhs Singh has been rewarded with Rs 1000 cash and his name has been recommended for a promotion.

"Best jawans are selected and posted in traffic and they have engaged in social work also. Our purpose is to regulate traffic and not harass the public through challan. They have to concentrate more on social work and assisting public rather than challan," said Gurjit Singh Romana, DSP City.

"Now they will drive stray mals away from the city. He has been given a cash reward of Rs 1000 and his name has been recommended for promotion," he said.

Commuters hailed the social work of Gurbkhs Singh and appreciated it.

"They are doing it for children and elder and are doing the job which nobody else would do. This will help in avoiding accidents. In the same salary he is doing double job," said Satinder Pal Singh, a commuter.
