Railway police have issued a strong warning against people performing dangerous stunts and shooting social media reels on railway tracks to gain online fame. Northern Railway’s Co-Principal Chief Security Commissioner Pankaj Gangwar, during an inspection of Muzaffarnagar railway station, directed officials to take strict action against such offenders. He said these reckless acts pose a serious threat to railway operations and passenger safety and have resulted in several fatal accidents in the past. Emphasising zero tolerance, Gangwar stated that endangering lives and railway property for social media attention will not be allowed under any circumstances.

During his visit on Friday, IG Pankaj Gangwar conducted a detailed review of security arrangements at Muzaffarnagar railway station. He inspected platforms, foot overbridges, and other sensitive areas, and assessed the functioning of CCTV cameras and security systems deployed for passenger protection. He clearly stated that passenger safety remains the railways’ highest priority and that any form of negligence will invite strict action. Gangwar also instructed officials to remain alert and proactive at all times to ensure a safe travel environment for passengers across the station premises.

The railway police have also intensified efforts to prevent suicides on railway tracks. Officials have identified vulnerable locations where such incidents are frequent and ordered increased patrolling in these areas to stop incidents in time. In the backdrop of ongoing protests, Gangwar appealed to farmers not to hold ‘rail roko’ agitations or stage demonstrations on railway tracks unless issues are directly linked to the railways. He also interacted with RPF personnel, discussed their concerns, and stressed discipline, vigilance, and sensitive behaviour towards passengers as key to effective security.
