A 14-year-old boy has been killed and his sister seriously injured after their electric scooter was struck by a speeding police vehicle in Chhattisgarh’s capital on Friday morning, February 6. The accident occurred shortly before 8:00 am in the Civil Lines area, situated near the high-security zone of the Chief Minister’s official residence.
The victim, identified as Ansh Athwani, was riding his electric scooter to school with his sister, Namisa, when they were hit from behind by a police loader vehicle. Eyewitnesses reported that the government vehicle was travelling at a high speed in front of the Chhattisgarh Club when the collision occurred.
Ansh reportedly died at the scene due to the severity of the impact. His sister, Namisa, sustained critical injuries and was rushed to the Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Memorial Hospital, where she remains under medical care.

Following the accident, the driver of the police loader abandoned the vehicle and fled. Local authorities confirmed that the vehicle involved is a government-owned loader assigned to the police department.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) for Civil Lines, Ramakant Sahu, confirmed the details of the tragedy, stating:
"A speeding police loader vehicle hit a child who was on his way to school. The child died on the spot. We have identified the vehicle, and a search for the absconding driver is currently underway."
