Jaipur, March 4 Rajasthan Education Minister Madan Dilawar on Tuesday ordered probe into irregularities in madrasa board and mid day meal scheme during the previous government's tenure.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, instead of transferring funds to parents’ accounts (as advised by the Finance Department), the Education Department chose to distribute food materials. Despite a recorded student enrollment of 59.81 lakh, materials were reportedly distributed for 66.22 lakh students, raising concerns about discrepancies.
He said, "A CAG report indicated a scam of Rs 1,705 crore in material procurement tenders. The previous investigation into the matter will be canceled, and a new, impartial inquiry will be conducted. Corruption in uniform distribution in the Madrasa Board will also be thoroughly investigated.
Dilawar reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring quality education for every child in Rajasthan, along with fostering moral values, discipline, and practical knowledge.
He emphasised that both family and school play a crucial role in shaping students’ character, and the state government is strengthening the education system accordingly.
He further said: "The REET exam, held on February 27-28, 2025, was conducted under strict supervision to ensure confidentiality. 13.77 lakh candidates appeared, and no reports of unethical activities were received. Similarly, the Pre D.El.Ed. exam (2024) was successfully conducted."
While responding to the debate on grant demands for the Primary (Demand No. 20) and Secondary Education (Demand No. 21) Departments in the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday, Dilawar announced that the House had passed the grant demands of Rs 218.82 billion for elementary education and Rs 288.30 billion for secondary education by voice vote.
He announced innovations in the paper-checking system and said: "Along with re-totalling, a re-checking system is being introduced through a pilot project. To prevent paper leaks and copying mafias, Secondary Education Board exam papers will now be prepared section-wise by different experts."
He said that under the National Education Policy, primary education will be imparted in the mother tongue or local language.
“A dictionary has been prepared to aid in this transition. Books are being developed in accordance with NEP guidelines. All schools will be painted with the same colour,” he added.
