Three Jain monks were attacked by six miscreants on April 13. They were attacked inside a Hanuman Temple in Madhya Pradesh’s Neemuch district. The monks were seeking shelter inside the temple when the robbers attacked them after they refused to give them money. Police arrested those six people from the Rajasthan border. Five men were paraded by police. The sixth one is a minor. The Jain community held a silent march. They are protesting against the attack on Jain monks in Neemuch. They want strict action to be taken against the culprits. They also appeal for police protection for monks during travel, submitting a memorandum to top government officials.
BJP MLA Atul Bhansali says, "Today, this Ahimsa Yatra has been organized by the Jain community and people from all sections of society to submit a memorandum in protest against the attack on the saints..."
The monks - Shailesh Muni Ji, Balbhadra Muni Ji, and Munindra Muni Ji - were on a 'Vihar' (religious journey) from Singoli to Neemuch (85km), said Singoli police station in charge Bhura Lal Bhabhar. During Vihar, Jain monks travel barefoot and they rely on others for food and basic needs. He said that around midnight, the goons arrived on three motorcycles. They sat and started to drink liquor in front of the temple. When they saw Jain monks, they went in and threatened them with sharp weapons and sticks, and demanded money. When they said they did not have any money with them, the goons attacked them and fled the spot.
