Rajasthan Drowning Incident: Eight youngsters from Jaipur drowned in the Banas River in Rajasthan’s Tonk district on Tuesday while three others were rescued. According to the media reports, the group of 11 men aged between 25 and 32 had come to Tonk to celebrate a friend's birthday. Some of them entered the river to swim while others reportedly jumped in to help when they began to drown. Locals who saw the incident reportedly informed the police. A joint rescue operation was launched with help from police and villagers. Eight of the men were declared dead by doctors while the remaining three were rescued and are undergoing treatment at Saadat Hospital.

According to the media reports, the deceased have been identified as Naushad Khan, Rusim Khan, and Farhan Khan from Hasanpura; Rijwan Khan and Bablu from Ghat Gate; Nawab Khan and Sajid Khan from Kachchi Basti; and Nabed Khan from Ramganj Bazar. The survivors have been identified as Shahrukh Khan aged 30, Salman Khan aged 26, and Samir Khan aged 32. They are reported to be in stable condition. Their bodies have been sent for post-mortem and will be handed over to family members after formalities.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma expressed grief over both incidents. In a post on social media he said the drowning deaths in Tonk are extremely sad and painful. He added that the district administration was instructed to begin rescue and relief efforts as soon as the incident was reported.
