The moon was first sighted in Bihar and then Assam, according to ABP News. Qazi Rizwan Nadawi of Imarat-e-Sharia said there have been reports of moon sighting from various places. “We are examining the claims, after which an official announcement will be made,” Nadawi told ABP News.

For those who have not seen the crescent moon, wait for 10 minutes to get fully dark and look towards the western horizon. The moon will appear very thin in the lower part of the sky.

The start of Ramadan depends on the visual confirmation of the crescent moon, a ritual rooted in Islamic practice. Once the moon is sighted, communities prepare for a month-long observance that reshapes daily routines, from pre-dawn meals to evening prayers.

During this period, Muslims fast from dawn to sunset, refraining from food and drink as an act of devotion and self-discipline.
