A wedding in Rampur took a shocking turn on Friday night when a 29-year-old groom, enraged by an unmet dowry demand, slapped his 26-year-old bride during the ceremony, sparking a violent brawl that left several people injured. The event had been proceeding smoothly with guests celebrating the couple, but things escalated during the garland exchange ritual. Subhash Kumar, the groom, turned to his bride and demanded, "Where is the car?" The bride responded, "We’ve already given Rs 10 lakh. There is no SUV."

In a moment of fury, Subhash slapped his bride, causing her to collapse. The altercation quickly spiraled out of control, with both families clashing violently. Chairs were thrown, and punches were exchanged, resulting in six people, including the bride, sustaining injuries. The groom and his family fled the scene as chaos continued, and the police were called to intervene. Subhash and his father, Hardwari Singh, were taken into custody.

The bride later expressed her humiliation, saying, "Our marriage was arranged six months ago, and we had regular conversations. He claimed to be a businessman. He embarrassed me in front of everyone. Even if he apologizes, I will never marry him." According to SHO Karam Singh of Saidnagar Aleemnagar police station, both families eventually reached a settlement, and the wedding was officially called off by Saturday. The gifts provided by the bride's family were returned.
