Lucknow, April 12 Uttar Pradesh Transport Minister Dayashankar Singh said on Sunday that revamped and digitally equipped bus stations in the state will enhance passenger safety.

His reaction followed after the State Cabinet approved a project of the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) to redevelop 49 major bus stations.

The decision is viewed as a significant step towards modernising and strengthening the state's transport system.

The project that will be developed under the second phase of the UPSRTC is based on the public-private partnership (PPP) mode and DBFOT (Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer) framework model.

Under this initiative, 49 major bus stations across the state will be redeveloped to match world-class standards.

Minister Dayashankar Singh said, "The bus stations developed under the PPP model will feature enhanced arrangements for cleanliness, safety, and digital information systems. In addition, organised parking, commercial complexes, and allied services will be included to develop smart and sustainable infrastructure."

He also told that the project will be implemented under the DBFOT model in order to ensure that there is no direct capital expenditure from the state government.

The development will be carried out through private investment, while the ownership of the land will remain with the corporation.

The Transport Minister added, "This initiative by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government will create new employment opportunities in the state, boost economic activities, and accelerate urban development. At the same time, passengers will benefit from safe, convenient, and high-quality transport services."

Dayashankar Singh described the project as a significant step towards building modern transport infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh.

According to the official information, the bus stations will be transformed into modern, world-class, and multi-purpose bus terminals, offering advanced facilities to passengers.

The tender process for selecting developers under the project will begin soon and will be conducted in a transparent and competitive manner.

Moreover, Minister Singh had said that the state Cabinet has approved three proposals submitted by the transport corporation.

The other two proposals were about providing land free of cost for construction of bus stations at Narora area in Bulandshahr district, and also Tulsipur and Sikandrarao tehsils in Balrampur and Hathras, respectively.
