Four were injured after a lorry carrying sand overturned in the Kondaiyampalayam area of Salem district in Tamil Nadu in the early hours of Thursday, February 13. Revenue officials and the fire department rescued the victims who were trapped underneath the lorry and transported them to a hospital for treatment.  The driver has fled the scene. Gangavalli police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the accident.

Earlier n Wednesday, seven people, including three schoolchildren, were injured after a Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) bus overturned, plunging off a hill into a farmland 10 feet below in Attur block.

Police said driver Selvaraj (55), from Anaiyampatti Pudur village in Gangavalli, and four passengers Jayalakshmi (50), Dharmar (50), and two children Kavi Priya (9), and Rajeswari (7), suffered injuries in the impact of the fall.
