Jaipur, March 4 Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Tuesday said that Sambhar Lake, located near Jaipur, has the potential to become a major tourist attraction similar to Gujarat’s Rann of Kutch.
Given the significant participation of domestic and international tourists in the Sambhar Festival, he instructed officials to develop more facilities and increase its promotion.
Chief Minister Sharma also reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to preserving Rajasthan’s cultural, religious, and historical heritage while ensuring its development.
He emphasised that Rajasthan holds immense potential for religious and cultural tourism, which, along with conservation efforts, will boost the tourism sector and generate employment opportunities.
He was chairing a review meeting on Tuesday at the Chief Minister’s residence, Sharma stated, “Conserving our heritage while advancing development is our primary goal. We are dedicated to restoring temples and promoting religious tourism in the state.”
He also stressed the importance of familiarising the younger generation with Rajasthan’s rich historical and religious legacy and suggested that school students be taken on regular tours of iconic monuments and sites.
The Chief Minister said that in the Sankalp Patra, it was announced to develop Braj Chaurasi Circuit as devotional tourism. For this, tourism facilities are being developed on the Braj Chaurasi Kos Parikrama Marg.
He said that the development work of Poonchri Ka Lotha Deeg along with the Parikrama Marg should also be expedited.
He directed to complete all the procedures for the construction of Shri Gokul Jat Panorama, Raja Khemkaran Panorama, Dev Baba Panorama, Govind Swami Panorama soon and start the work.
He further directed the officials to get the development work done at Tanot Mata Temple in Jaisalmer and ensure proper arrangements for the stay of the devotees coming there.
He said that along with improving the connectivity of Girduwala, Village Kuldhara and Longewala with Jaisalmer and Tanot, facilities should be developed for tourists here.
He said that in the cabinet meeting held recently in Prayagraj, it was decided to renovate temples located outside the state.
He directed the officials of the Devsthan Department to get such temples surveyed and find out their actual number and list them.
