In West Bengal, things got heated on Wednesday as Suvendu Adhikari, the leader of the opposition in the state Assembly, accused the police of conspiring to protect Sheikh Shahjahan, a Trinamool Congress leader who is on the run. Adhikari claims that Shahjahan is the mastermind behind the attack on Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) personnel in Sandeshkhali, North 24 Parganas district on January 5. Reacting to Same now BJP MP Agnimitra Paul has blamed CM Mamta Banerjee and said that she trying to protect Sheikh Shahjahan.
While talking to ANI Agnimitra stated that, Sheikh Shahjahan is being protected on orders of the Chief Minister, she should also be punished... This is not the first time. There are 42 cases against him, and he is the accused in all of them, but his name has been struck out of chargesheets."

During the elections, illegal activities like booth capturing and threatening BJP leaders and voters will be done by people like Sheikh Shajahan. That is why Mamata Banerjee is protecting him.
