Without going into the details of the Ayodhya judgement, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday said that with the Supreme Court ruling on an issue that has caused a lot of turbulence in the past, all parties should accept it gracefully.

"All should respond positively as the Supreme Court verdict is final. Nothing should happen which will cause any sort of issues. Even when the Babri Masjid demolition took place, Kerala by and large had reacted in a very mature way. Likewise today also it should be the same," Vijayan said while speaking to the media soon after the verdict.

"The government is fully geared up and nothing should be done to destroy the peace, over the issue," Vijayan said, adding that he was not going into the details of the judgement at the moment and would elaborate further only after going through the apex court's ruling in detail.

The historic judgement of the Supreme Court on Saturday directed the Centre to form, within three months, a trust which will build a temple at the disputed site in Ayodhya.

In a unanimous judgement, a 5-member bench, headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi said the Sunni Waqf Board, which was a party to the title suit, should be given an alternate land somewhere else to build a mosque.

The disputed land of 2.77 acres has been given to the Hindus.

The Centre will make suitable provisions by handing over the land to a trust for building a temple, the top court said.

Meanwhile, security has been tightened across Kerala. Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) has been imposed in five places in Kasargode district, while police security has been beefed up at Kochi and other major centres.

The Kerala state administration and the police have send out messages on official groups that there should be no attempt to spread canards, while those engaging in such activity would be arrested.
