In a shocking incident, a 30-year-old woman killed her 6-year-old son in Palakkad district of Kerala. The woman slit her son's throat and then reported it to the local police. The woman said she sacrificed the child to please ‘Allah’ through a sacrifice.

Around 3-4 am on Sunday, Shahida called up the police after murdering her son named Aamil (6) as a sacrifice to Allah. Subsequently, a police team was deputed to her house. Upon arriving, the cops found Shahida waiting for them at the gate, with blood on her. They immediately rushed inside and found the child lying dead with his throat slit in the bathroom. After this, the cops took Shahida into custody and sent the child’s body for post-mortem examination.

As per media report, Shahida is three months pregnant. She is a teacher in a local madrasa, while her husband Sulaiman, a Gulf returnee, works as a driver. Her husband, along with their two other kids was sleeping in the adjoining room when Shahida killed Aamil. Meanwhile, some neighbours claimed that she had taken the local police station’s phone number from one of them a day ago.

“What is mentioned in the FIR is what the mother told the police control room. Only after a thorough investigation can we conclude whether that was indeed the reason or whether there are other reasons,”  the report quoted Palakkad SP, Viswanadh R, as saying.
