In a shocking incident, two robbers stole a man's Tata Tiago car that also had the owners wife seated in it in Punjab's Dera Bassi. The whole incident took place near Sukhmani School in Dera Bassi on Thursday.

The carjackrs after driving around for 5km dropped the woman, Ritu, on the national highway and sped away in the car.

The owner of the car Rajeev left the keys inside the car when they had gone to school around 1pm to pay their children’s school fee. While Rajeev Chand went inside the school leaving his car keys, Ritu stayed back, waiting in the car.

After sometime, two men entered the car and sat inside. While one sat on the driver's seat, another sat with Ritu and covered her mouth to stop her from raising the alarm.

An investigation has been initiated against the unidentified accused.

"We are checking the CCTV footage of the toll plaza and are hopeful of arresting the robbers soon," Satinder Singh, station house officer, Dera Bassi was quoted as saying by the report.
