A 21-year-old woman was allegedly shot dead in broad daylight outside her college in Haryana's Faridabad district on Monday.

Police said the incident took place in Faridabad's Ballabgarh when the woman came out of her college after appearing for an exam.

The accused, who came outside her college in a vehicle, tried to abduct her. He shot her when the victim tried to resist the abduction attempt, said ACP Ballabgarh Jaiveer Singh Rathi.

The victim was taken to the hospital but she succumbed to injuries, ACP Rathi said.

One of the accused Taufeeq was arrested on Tuesday, police said. The accused has been identified as a resident of Mewat, police added

Police said preliminary investigation revealed that the victim and one of the accused knew each other.
