 Three people died and seven were rescued after a boat capsized in the Sharda River in Uttar Pradesh’s Sitapur district on Saturday. The accident occurred while a group was transporting a body for last rites.The incident took place around 11 a.m. near the Ratanganj area under the Tambour police station limits. The boat, carrying more than a dozen passengers, overturned due to overcrowding.

Local fishermen helped pull three bodies from the river. The victims were identified as Kumkum, 13, Khushboo, wife of Neeraj, and Sanjay, son of Jagdish. A 13-year-old girl who survived is in critical condition and was rushed to a hospital.

Rescue operations began immediately after the accident. Authorities arrived at the scene to assess the situation and assured support to the victims' families.

The group was crossing the river with the body of Dinesh Gupta when the boat overturned. Passengers were thrown into the water, causing panic. Seven people were brought to safety with the help of local fishermen.

The tragedy has left the local community in shock.
