New Delhi, Oct 24 Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP) Chairperson Sonia Gandhi on Sunday participated in the Vijay Dashmi celebrations here at Red Fort.

Sonia Gandhi arrived here at the Red Fort’s Nav Shri Dharmik Leela Committee grounds.

She was accompanied by senior party leader J.P Agarwal.

Earlier, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and several other senior leaders greeted the nation on the occasion of Dussehra.

Vijay Dashmi, the day marks the victory of good over evil, as on this day, Lord Rama defeated demon king Ravana and Maa Durga won over Mahishasura.

It falls on the tenth day of the month of Ashwin, seventh in the Hindu Luni-Solar Calendar.

After the nine days of Navratri, devotees of Maa Durga celebrate Dussehra with much pomp on the tenth day.
