Southern Railway cancels trains due to poor occupancy

Chennai, March 18 The Southern Railway has cancelled several trains due to poor occupancy consequent to the out break of coronavirus.

The Southern Railway has also increased the price of platform ticket to Rs 50 from Rs 10 at Dr MGR Chennai Central, Chennai Egmore and Tambaram Railway Stations to reduce the number of non-travellers till March 31 and prevent the risk coronavirus spread.

As per the statement issued by the Southern Railways on Wednesday 26 trains have been cancelled including MDU Duronto Express, MAS Duronto Express, Super Ac Express from Chennai Central to Trivandrum Central, Madgaon Express and several others following the coronavirus outbreak and low occupancy.

These trains will remain cancelled starting from March 23 to April 2 as per their running schedule.
