Patna, April 18 Following the swearing-in of the new government led by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, a one-day special session of the Bihar Legislative Assembly has been convened on April 24.

During this special session, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary is set to move a motion of confidence in the House, while also being formally elected as the Leader of the House.

An official notification issued by the Legislative Assembly Secretariat confirmed that proceedings will commence at 11:00 a.m. on April 24.

Such special sessions are typically convened to address key constitutional and legislative requirements, including leadership confirmation and government business.

With the new government in place, the session holds significance for both political consolidation and legislative functioning.

According to sources, the Chief Minister currently enjoys the support of 202 MLAs in the Assembly, placing the government in a strong position to comfortably win the trust vote.

Meanwhile, the Janata Dal (United) is also expected to elect a new leader within the House, following the exit of Nitish Kumar from the post of Chief Minister and Leader of the House.

Nitish Kumar had earlier assumed the role of Chief Minister and Leader of the House after the Assembly elections.

However, after his resignation, Samrat Choudhary took the oath as the new Chief Minister.

Now, with the upcoming session, he is poised to formally assume the role of Leader of the House as well, making this session crucial in completing the leadership transition.

Once elected, Samrat Choudhary is expected to address the House and outline the government’s future roadmap and policy direction.

Earlier, during an interaction with the media on Friday, the Chief Minister had indicated that a detailed agenda of governance and development priorities would be presented during the session.

All preparations for the session have been completed, and the Assembly is set to conduct proceedings as scheduled.

This special session is being closely watched as it will not only reaffirm the government’s majority but also signal its policy direction and legislative priorities going forward.
