Sunni board defers decision on trust for mosque

The Central Sunni Waqf Board has postponed its decision on forming a trust for construction of a mosque in Ayodhya on the land given to it by the government, as per the Supreme Court verdict.

Lucknow, March 5 The Central Sunni Waqf Board has postponed its decision on forming a trust for construction of a mosque in Ayodhya on the land given to it by the government, as per the Supreme Court verdict.

Board chairman Zufar Farooqui told reporters that the decision on the trust for mosque construction would be taken soon. He said that Thursday's meeting was routine.

Sources said that the Board on Thursday, deferred decision on formation of the trust in view of the objections being raised by some members.

Babri plaintiff Iqbal Ansari has already slammed the board for not inviting those who had contested the case to its meetings.
