Tahawwur Rana was extradited from the US to Delhi on April 11. Tahawwur Rana, the suspect in the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, was taken to the National Investigation Agency headquarters on April 10. NIA stated that it would conduct a thorough interrogation of him. Rana would be held for 18 days as the agency conducts a thorough interrogation of him to determine the full scope of the 2008 attacks, which claimed 166 lives and injured over 238 more. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that they will corporate with NIA when he was asked if Rana would be brought to Mumbai.

Addressing a press conference on April 11, CM Fadnavis said, “I am very happy that the accused in the 26/11 Mumbai attacks and one of the conspirators, Tahawwur Rana, has been brought to India. I thank the Prime Minister on behalf of Mumbaikars that the conspirator has been brought to India to face the Indian judicial system. It was a burden on us that Kasab was executed as per law, but the conspirator was not in our custody... He is with NIA now, and they are investigating the case. Now, the NIA will take calls about the investigation and legal procedures to be followed. Whatever information we need, we will take from NIA, and if they need any assistance, we will do so through Mumbai Police.”

Tahawwur Rana appeared before the Special NIA Court on April 10. Tahawwur Rana, the accused of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, wrote emails that the anti-terror agency cited as strong evidence to support his police detention. Custodial interrogation is essential to revealing a dark conspiracy, the CIA told the court. Additionally, investigators will look at Rana's involvement in planning the horrific terror acts.

According to the NIA, accused No. 1 David Coleman Headley had spoken with Tahawwur Rana about the entire plan prior to his trip to India as part of the criminal conspiracy. Headley emailed Rana a list of his possessions and assets in anticipation of any difficulties. He also told Rana that Abdur Rehman and Ilyas Kashmiri were part of the conspiracy.
