A 17-year-old student from the Srivaikuntam area in Tamil Nadu was attacked near a bus stop by an unidentified mob. His father rushed him to Srivaikuntam Government Hospital for first aid before he was shifted to Tirunelveli Government College and Hospital for further treatment.

Following a complaint from the student's father, Srivaikuntam police registered a case under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act, 1989.

During the investigation, police identified 19-year-old Lakshmanan and two others as the attackers. Lakshmanan was arrested, and the other two were detained. Authorities are continuing their investigation and have assured legal action against those involved.
