Early this morning, a petrol bomb was reportedly hurled at the local office of senior Congress leader P. Chidambaram and his son, Sivaganga MP Karti Chidambaram, in Subramaniapuram, prompting authorities to launch an investigation and review nearby CCTV footage. Karti Chidambaram, a Congress MP representing the Sivaganga Lok Sabha constituency, has his office located in Subramaniapuram, Karaikudi, within Sivaganga district.
According to reports, unidentified individuals threw a petrol bomb inside the MP office. The explosive landed in the courtyard in front of the office and caught fire. The attackers then allegedly damaged the CCTV camera installed at the site before fleeing the scene.
The Karaikudi police were immediately alerted. Officers, along with Superintendent of Police Sivaprasad, rushed to the location and began an investigation. Authorities are now working to identify the perpetrators, understand their motive, and uncover any connections related to the incident. In the initial phase of the inquiry, police are examining CCTV footage from the surrounding areas. A case has been registered, and the investigation is ongoing.
