Heavy rainfall in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, has led to severe waterlogging across several parts of the city, significantly disrupting normal life. Visuals from affected areas showed streets submerged under rainwater, vehicles moving slowly through flooded roads, and residents struggling to commute through inundated lanes. Low-lying localities bore the brunt of the downpour as continuous showers caused water to accumulate rapidly, creating traffic congestion and safety concerns. Authorities have stepped in to monitor the situation closely and are actively working to remove excess water from affected zones to restore normalcy.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast continued rainfall across parts of southern India, bringing relief from rising temperatures. Light to moderate rain, along with thunderstorms and lightning at isolated locations, is expected over coastal Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal, while interior regions may largely remain dry. Chennai is likely to witness a partly cloudy sky with occasional light showers, with temperatures hovering between 24°C and 35°C. Weather systems, including a trough and cyclonic circulations, are influencing these conditions and contributing to ongoing rainfall activity.

Other southern states are also experiencing varied weather patterns. Kerala has reported thunderstorms and moderate rainfall in several regions, while Karnataka is preparing for storm activity across districts such as Bengaluru, Mysuru, and Kodagu, accompanied by gusty winds. Telangana has seen scattered rainfall with limited impact in Hyderabad, though temperatures have dipped slightly. In Andhra Pradesh, widespread rain and thunderstorms are expected over the next few days in multiple districts. Overall, the recent spell of rain has eased early March heatwave conditions, offering temporary relief across much of the region.
