Patna, April 13 Amid the ongoing political turmoil over the formation of a new government in Bihar, Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav launched a sharp attack on the ruling NDA, questioning both the process and legitimacy of the next Chief Minister.
Addressing a press conference at the Karpoori Auditorium in Patna, Tejashwi Yadav remarked that the decision regarding Bihar’s next Chief Minister would be taken by just two individuals, rather than reflecting the will of the people.
He alleged that the NDA had fought elections in the name of Nitish Kumar, but is now sidelining him from power, thereby undermining the mandate given by voters.
Tejashwi further claimed that as Nitish Kumar exits, he is leaving behind an empty treasury, alleging that the state government is struggling even to pay salaries of MLAs and MLCs.
He accused the NDA of pushing Bihar backward over the past two decades in key sectors such as education, healthcare, industry, and manufacturing.
According to him, Bihar has now been reduced to one of the poorest states in the country due to policy failures and corruption.”
Taking a direct dig at the alliance, he alleged that the NDA government is preoccupied with power politics rather than governance, while crime and corruption are rising rapidly.
He also claimed that the Janata Dal (United) is functioning like a subsidiary of the Bharatiya Janata Party, hinting at alleged political compromises for personal and legal gains.
Tejashwi alleged that funds meant for development are not being utilised properly and that payments to contractors and workers have been withheld.
He cited a personal example, claiming that after raising the issue, his own salary was credited to his account—despite his appeal being on behalf of all representatives.
During the same event, Tejashwi Yadav announced a major organisational change within the party.
The student wing of the Rashtriya Janata Dal, previously known as Chhatra RJD, has been dissolved and renamed as the Socialist Student Association of India.
The change has been implemented in compliance with guidelines linked to the Lyngdoh Committee and a Supreme Court verdict.
The new body aims to expand its reach among students nationwide, focusing on education, equality, student rights, and empowerment.
Tejashwi’s remarks come at a time when Bihar is on the brink of a power transfer, with intense speculation over the next Chief Minister.
